For the first time, the MHP will hold a cadet class for lawyers
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for cadets for its next class, but this class will only be for those who are certified police officers.
Orienteering meetings will be held at the local MHP Troop substations for anyone interested in applying for cadet class 66.
Unlike other classes, this upcoming course is only for current or former law enforcement officers.
This is the first time the Mississippi Highway Patrol has conducted a cadet class for those who have been certified as a law officer for at least two years.
“It’s going to be a shortened school, but it’s going to be as difficult as any patrol school we’ve ever had,” SSGT’s Brian McGee, public relations officer, told Troop F.
“I think the advantage of getting some boys from the previous law, the class to go this way, would be guys who know what to expect and hope that our dropout rate will not be so bad, because again, we always we remain around those 150 plus who can retire at any moment, so we need hands, boots on the ground to increase our numbers so that we can continue to serve this great country, ”said the sergeant. Derrick Becom, Troop G. Public Relations Officer
The deadline for applying for the class is January 21. You can find out the orientation dates at various Troop substations by going to the MHP Facebook page.
