Elbit systems has launched E-LynX-Sat, an added compact satellite communications system (SATCOM) – this new system uses a lightweight, less than 1 Kg terminal that connects to E-LynX El Elbit Systems’ software-defined radio (SDR) solution.
E-LynX-Sat enables infantry and maneuvering forces to maintain stable and secure voice and data communication services on the move and in motion, within a range of hundreds of kilometers. The operational advantages of the newly created E-LynX-Sat system were successfully demonstrated during the recent British Army 2020 combat experiment.
E-LynX-Sat integrates miniature phased array antennas, a unique modem for satellite communication, beam management and error correction software, and data compression protocols. Using standard geo and stationary Ka and Ku-band satellites, it has automatic electronic satellite tracking and direct sequence propagation spectrum, allowing continuous operations on the horizon and in motion.
The E-LynX-Sat consists of compact portable terminals and a Hub base station, which is installed in satellite ground stations.
Executive comments
“Access to stable voice and long-range communication is a critical operational capability for infantry and maneuvering forces. Until now, this capability required the use of expensive and heavy SATCOM equipment that did not connect smoothly to their tactical radio or command and control systems, limiting their reception and efficiency.,” said Oren Sabag, SVP in Elbit Systems C4I & Cyber Division. Overcoming the major challenges in military networks, including size and weight reduction, as well as automatic tracking, this additional SATCOM solution offers a significant improvement in the operational efficiency of the growing customer base of the E-LynX SDR solution.. “
